MUNSTER SOCCER CLUB
COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
By participating as a youth sports Volunteer, I will adhere to the following code:
I will create an appropriate environment for our children that:
1. Focuses on safety, fun, skill development and education.
2. Promotes building character and learning life skills.
3. De-emphasizes a win-at-all-costs attitude.
4. Builds an atmosphere where winning is not defined by the outcome of competition, but by individual needs of the children.
I will act responsibly and do my best to assure that:
1. I provide playing time for every child that is consistent with the rules of the Munster Soccer Club – each child should play at least 50 percent of each game.
2. I properly educate players on the importance of teamwork, effort, having fun and playing fair, along with fundamentals and skills.
3. I cooperate with the board of the Munster Soccer Club in the enforcement of rules and regulations and I report any irregularities.
4. I provide a healthy and safe environment for players. I will never put winning over a child’s health or safety.
5. Two adults will be present at every practice and game.
6. I will never leave a child alone after practice or a game.
I will display appropriate behavior & understand that violations of the following codes will jeopardize my privilege to coach:
1. I will treat each player, opposing coach, official, parent or administrator with respect and dignity, and refrain from using profanity, intimidation tactics and inappropriate language.
2. I will uphold the authority of officials who are assigned to the contest. If you have a small issue, discuss it with the referee calmly and patiently after the game. If you have a major complaint, report it to the board and they will address it with the league.
3. During the game, I am responsible for the sportsmanship of my players. If one of my players is disrespectful or overly aggressive, take the player out of the game long enough to cool him/her down.
Responsibilities to Munster Soccer Club:
1. The Coach must behave in such a manner that the principles, integrity and dignity of the Club are not compromised.
2. Coaches must not ask for special consideration for their players or themselves.
3. Coaches should discuss problems with the Board in a friendly manner and then accept and support the Board’s decision.
Terminal behavior:
Any violations of the following code will result in immediate loss of your privilege to coach.
1. I will never coach under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
2. I will never participate in verbal or physical assault on any Board Member, Parent or Child.
The Munster Soccer Club reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action involving any violations of the code of conduct.
